The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association has condemned unsavory pronouncements made by host of Onua TV/FM morning show Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart.
Host of Onua TV/FM morning show, was arrested by the Nima Police Station for making some unpleasant pronouncements.
In a release to announce the arrest of Captain Smart, the police noted that the presenter’s comment, which violated section 207 of the Criminal Act, 1960 (Act 29), hinges on the peace and security of the nation.
He has since been bailed, with investigations underway.
Following this, media General also released a statement to condemn Ghana police’s interpretation of Captain Smart’s supposed unsavory comments.
They further took a swipe what they describe as the increasingly creeping culture of intolerance in the Ghanaian society.
But Speaking to JoyNews in an interview, President of GIBA, Cecil Sunkwa-Mills said they will be engaging management of the media network to place a check on such excesses.
They further condemned the comments by Captain Smart, calling for responsible journalistic practice.
