Veteran journalist, Kwaku Baako has blamed the current impasse and stalemate regarding the 2022 budget on leadership failure on the part of the Majority.
He expressed shock as to how the Majority leadership could not anticipate that the Minority was going to give them a run for their money in the budget approval process.
‘‘This is not to take anything from the leadership of the Majority. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is a friend, a very astute legislator, and his lietenant, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who I believe has great political prospects,’’ he observed
‘‘My challenge with them is how they could not seem to anticipate the challenges they were going to face, especially with this hanged parliament,’’ he added.
Mr. Baako was of the view that the current stalemate in Parliament could have been avoided if the Majority was proactive enough to marshal all their members to participate in the budget approval process.
He noted that if the Majority had acted the drama and stalemate that has characterized the approval of the 2022 budget statement and economic policy of the government could have been avoided.
