The Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Inusah Abdulai Bistav Fuseini, has asked President Nana Akufo Addo to intervene in the seeming impasse between the Majority and Minority sides of parliament that has led to the rejection of the 2022 budget.
His calls follow a botched attempt by the Minister of Finance to further engage parliament prior to the question of whether or not the budget should be accepted, and the subsequent rejection of the budget by the Minority side of parliament.
Speaking to Neat FM on developments in parliament, the former Minister of Minister for Lands and Natural Resources opined that the President’s intervention will break the deadlock in parliament, currently.
‘’I call on the President to intervene. The President must lead the charge on this, he posited.
He warned of dire consequences if parliament fails to reach a consensus on the way forward for approving the budget.
He noted further that the seeming hanged nature of Ghana’s eight parliament sets the tone on the need for more consensus building and collaboration.
”There is the need for the Majority and Minority to jaw-jaw on this matters. The times when the Majority had their way is over,’’ he asserted.
Parliament is expected to reconvene today, Tuesday November 30, 2021. Many political watchers and Ghanaians are keenly monitoring how things will pan out today and its implication for the 2022 budget.
