The Deputy Minority whip of Parliament, Hon Ahmed Ibrahim, has expressed reservations with the bench warrant for the arrest of the Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, Hon, Francis Xavier Sosu.
The Kaneshie Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the Member of Parliament Madina Constituency.
The MP, who has severally failed to subject himself to the court proceedings, missed today’s court proceedings, citing his work at the Constitutional and Legal Committee in Parliament today.
At today’s hearing the prosecution requested the court to issue a warrant for the arrest, as his continuous absence from court amount to deception and disrespect to the courts.
The court upheld the prosecution’s position rejecting attempts by Lawyers of the M.P to justify their client’s absence.
But speaking on the development at Kasapa FM, Ahmed Ibrahim remarked that the government, through the Attorney-General is being unfairly treated.
‘‘All the issues we have raise are very prominent. The warrant for the arrest of Hon. Sosu cannot detract our reseolve to get the right things done for the betterment of the people of Ghana,’’ he asserted.
‘‘The work that Hon. Sosu is doing on the Committee is very important for the country. Even with his relatively young experience in Parliament, he has positioned himself as one of the best legal minds and could not be absent from today’s Legal and Constitional Committee’s sitting,’’ Hon Banda justified.
Hon. Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency, who is also the Deputy Minority Whip of Parliament, further noted that the Minority will not renege on its decision to reject the 2022 budget, until their five-point concerns are addressed.
