Ghana Armed Forces Assist Former Ghanaian Olympic Champion

The Ghana armed forces have extended a helping hand to the former Ghanaian Olympic Champion, Prince Amartey.

Following stories about his unfortunate state in the Volta Region, the GAF immediately went to his aid and have within a space of a week, established for him a mini mart named after him: “Amartey Mini Mart”. The mart is located at the Ho Barracks, for supervision and security purposes.

The 77 year old Olympian who is now bedridden, was a member of the GAF as a Lance Corporal but was discharged of his duties after he encountered mental health challenges.

Before this ongoing Olympic games, the last time Ghana won an individual medal at the Olympic Games was in 1972. And it was a bronze won by Prince Amartey for Ghana in boxing, 49 years ago.
