According to the Ghanaian government revealed the easily spread Indian Delta Variant of the SARS-Cov-2 virus has now reach the Ghanaian community.
Last month June, the Ghana Health Service revealed that it had detected six Delta Variant of the SARS-Cov-2 virus from all samples taken between April and June 2021 at the Kotoka International Airport.
However this latest update means that the Indian Delta variant has broken through containment at the airport and into an undisclosed community.
In a press release dated Friday, June 2, the Information Ministry said the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed that the undisclosed community reported its cases at 10 am the same day.
“At 10:00hours on Friday, July 2, 2021, the Covid-19 task force was advised by Ghana Health Service, that the Delta Variant of the SARS-Cov-2 virus has been recorded within a community (i.e. non-arriving passengers) in the latest round of genomic sequencing”.
“Relevant agencies are taking the necessary steps to ensure that spread is contained.
“The positive persons are in good health. The task force will provide further details at 13:00hours on Sunday, July 4th, 2021”.

It also assured that the affected persons are in good health and have been admitted to the health facilities.
Meanwhile, members of the general public have been advised to strictly adhere to the safety Covid-19 protocols set up by government.
Also, the Service has indicated its outfit will, on Sunday, July 4, provide further information on the matter to the general public.
Meanwhile, the Service has also assured the public the AstraZeneca vaccines and Sputnik V vaccines procured by the government are effective to combat the new strain of the virus.
