Legislator for the Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini, says the murder of #FixTheCountry campaigner, Anyass Ibrahim, should be likened to that of investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale.
He said the murder of the campaigner in Ejura in the Ashanti Region, should not be treated as an isolated incident but should be seen as related crimes against individuals who criticize the Akufo-Addo government.
Investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale’s, was gunned down by men on bike after his role in ‘Number 12’ expose on corruption in football.
His family have still not had justice served for the loss of their son, as no arrests have been made in relation to the incident for more than 2 years.
Mr Suhunyini, said the police should investigate the murder but should not regard the social media campaigner’s death as an isolated crime different from the murder of Ahmed Suale.
He said the murder should be treated in connection to many other Ghanaians, who were murdered for criticizing the Akufo-Addo government.
The Tamale North lawmaker said if the murder of Macho Kaaka, as he is popularly known on social media, is treated as a ‘plausible’ murder in isolation from all the other murders of individuals who have fallen under the “intolerant” New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, the culprits will never be apprehended just like Suale’s and the rest.
He made this pronouncement in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on TV3‘s New Day show on Tuesday, June 29.
Alhassan Suhuyini was speaking in the wake of the gruesome murder of the Macho Kakaa in Ejura in the Ashanti Region over the weekend.
“Let the police investigate but let us not lose sight of the fact that this is not an isolated one,” the National democratic Congress (NDC) MP said.
“Ahmed Suale is still in his grave and we still do not know who murdered him because we still gave these plausibilities.
“Let us narrow in on the first possible cause, it is the first, let us focus on it until we dismiss it.
“If investigations dismiss it, I will accept whatever evidence they bring to dismiss it but until then if it walks like a duck, cocks like a duck, then it is a duck,” he maintained.
“I have said that I have seen the New Patriotic Party in power, I have seen the NDC in power but this New Patriotic Party in power led by Nana Akufo-Addo doesn’t surprise me as it surprises many.
“The level of intolerance to dissent doesn’t surprise me and that is why I have said that if Nana Akufo-Addo had the chance to stay in power longer than he is required to by constitution, he would have gone in history as the worst dictator Africa has ever had.
