152kgs of Cocaine Intercepted by NACOC at Tema Port

The Narcotics Control commission in a joint Operation with the Bureau of national Investigation (BNI) and the National Security Secretariat (NSCS) intercepted 152 kgs of Cocaine on the 12th September 2020.

The Seizure was based on an intelligence received that, a consignment of fifty (50) Containers of sugar destined for Ghana from Brazil are likely to contain Substances suspected to be Cocaine.

The Consignment with bill of laden number MEDUST209567 was shipped from Brazil by USINA SANTA ISABEL S/A FAZENDA TRES, a Brazilian company on behalf of SUCDEN MIDDLE EAST, based in Dubai.

The Shipment consists of Twenty-Seven thousand bags of Brazilian white crystal sugar, with a gross weight of One thousand, three hundred and fifty metric tones and GLOBAL CARGO & COMMODITIES LTD TEMA, was the consignee according to press statement released by NACOC was to be delivered to TRADEPASS GH LTD.

The 150 slabs of cocaine were found in 8 bags of Sugar after a thorough physical search was conducted between 10th and 12th September on the containers with the bags of Sugar in the Warehouse with the assistance of the Customs Division of the Ghana revenues Authority stationed at the Warehouse.

The Found slabs were tested and proved positive for cocaine, NACOC took custody of the exhibits and forwarded same to Ghana standard Authority for analytical Examination.

A number of persons has been arrested following the Seizure.
