Six(6) out of the nine(9) confirmed covid-19 cases in Volta region are Nigerians

Six people out of the nine confirmed cases recorded yesterday from the Volta region were Nigeria Nationals who had entered the country illegally 2 weeks ago.

These six (6) Nigerians entered Ghana through unapproved routes along the Ghana-Togo border near Aflao in the Volta region according to a statement released by the Volta Regional Council.

“They were apprehended and have been under mandatory quarantine for the past fourteen (14) days. And“efforts are being made through the Ministry of National Security for their repatriation to their home country.”” the statement said.

The three other cases, which are Ghanaian nationals, include a 48-year-old man, a 22-year-old pregnant woman and a 32-year-old man.

The Volta Regional Coordinating Council noted that “All the three cases confirmed in routine surveillance are not known contacts of COVID-19 cases.”

The 48-year-old man returned to Ho from Accra, the pregnant woman returned to Hohoe from Ashaiman and the 32-year-old man travelled to Hohoe from Tema.

The Ketu Municipal Assembly continued to urge all it’s residents to stay calm, and should not be alarmed by the number of cases recorded, but rather it should give them hope that the pragmatic measures put in place to quarantine these individuals have yielded positive results.

The Assembly advised those who had contact with these persons who had tested positive in the Municipality should quickly try to self-isolate, while they continue to contact trace to identify all those who might have come into contact with them.
